We had a great time this October with so many fun pumpkin farms, experiments and art activities!
We DID carve a pumpkin, but I think my camera was broken at the time and the boys actually weren't very interested. They didn't want to get their hands dirty and just wanted to go play. They liked picking the shapes for the face and helping to carve them out for a couple minutes but that was about all. This picture is a different activity that they enjoyed much more. They worked together to hammer golf tees into the pumpkin. It was great for hand-eye coordination as well as practice taking turns! :)
Brady was getting down to business since he even took his "bop" out of his mouth!
Another favorite was our exploding "pumpkins!" First, we drew a face on the bag with different shapes. Then they got to pour in corn starch, food coloring and vinegar. We put some baking soda on a tiny square of paper towel, folded it up and held it inside of the bag while I zipped it closed. Then we dropped the square into the mixture and shook it! If you look closely you can see the bag blowing up like a pumpkin!
The boys ran all the way down the driveway to watch it explode and then ran back to examine the mess.....of course this was the most fun part of all!
They loved it so much that we did it again another day with different colors and faces!
I have to say that I'm very thankful for all the great ideas on pinterest these days!!! It makes it so easy to find education fun to add into our days!
