Shooting Practice

Evan was here the other day, and what better person than a special ops (I think that's what it's called) military man to train Caleb how to shoot a gun! :)  We got the toys out for his daughter and found our nerf gun!  It didn't take long for training to commence!
 Concentration...
 He was SO excited!
Now to train him on what to shoot and not shoot! :)

Random Happenings

Some random pictures of things going on around here.
We've finally settled into a routine with our schedules and being parents to be able to have people over more often.  I suppose a lot has to do with my job change as well. :) This is the daughter of one of our friends who performed the "ABCs" with Caleb before leaving!  Pretty cute!
Another time just relaxing by the pool after some good grillin' from Matt!
Our little boy, getting taller by the day.
He enjoyed this bike that was passed onto us for a few days.  We passed it on to someone else since he already has a bike and it's huge anyway. He LOVED it though.
 Bedtime story time.
Naptime story time??!?!  Caleb often doesn't sleep for naps anymore, so I just tell him he has to be quiet and can't come out til we get him.  I put the chain on the door (since he can unlock it and I don't want to worry), put ear plugs in, and go take a nap.  Here's what we found after his nap the other day.  ALL his books in a huge pile on the floor.  At least he was quiet. :)

Fist S'Mores

A few weeks ago we went to a friends house and after a good meal we made some S'Mores!
Caleb wasn't quite sure about it all but since a marshmallow and chocolate were involved he endured the smoke and mommy and daddy excitement!
 We have a winner!!!
I think it will be better on a real campfire someday though!
Good time with friends.  Makes us want to move to a more rural area as well. Or at least go camping sometime soon!

Folsom Zoo with Boys

I figured we'd try out the Folsom zoo, even though Caleb wasn't too interested the first time we took him.  Turned out this time wasn't much different, but we still had a good time.
I was personally excited to actually see a Peacock showing off.  I don't know if I've ever seen this before.  I ran to get a picture, thinking he'd put them down, but he was determined to get the girl and we ended up leaving before the show was over.  The boys thought it was pretty neat too.
 Too bad I didn't have a better camera. :)
I LOVE this. The SAME bench that Caleb ran to "take a nap" on last time.....here's the picture....
Too funny.  I guess it proves that either by this time the zoo is just TOO boring, or it's been too long and it's time to sleep.  :)
 Add "ROAR" at this point!
Quick stop at the park and then headed home. I think we need to try the Sacramento zoo next time.

Pool Time!

The sun came out and so did the swim suits!
I thought the boys would enjoy some slimy goop that we could make with special powder and water.  This was a total FLOP!  They didn't care much at all and I was left with a pool full of slime.  I used the powder #2, which was supposed to dissolve it, but I was too impatient and dumped it out!  Flop again.  Then we kept slipping on it.  I ended up having to pour salt on it, which of course killed the grass.  Luckily the Wilsons didn't care since their yard isn't in the best condition anyway.  Oh well, live and learn.
So next we tried simple water.  I think the boys are figuring out what they can do with it here. :)
 THEN, I hit the jackpot!!!!
Hours of fun and Mommy is happy to sit, watch and laugh!!!!
 Great for the soul!

Folsom Lake with Boys

This must have been about a month ago, and it was already HOT HOT HOT!!!! So we headed to Folsom lake to be by the water.
Of course we had to walk a bit, which normally wouldn't be a big deal, but it wasn't the best idea for walking in the heat, especially on the way back. BLA!
I think it's so pretty in this area, even with half brown!
Headed down the hill to the water.
The last time we were there the water was quite a bit lower...let's see if I can find the picture...
This is just about the same spot it looks like.  Less grass and less water. Crazy.
The boys' favorite thing to do by any amount of water...throw rocks!
We found a perfect spot where it was super shallow so I didn't have to worry too much.  Of course it was the one spot with red mud, which the boys thought was great.
Snack break up on the hill in the shade.
Love this.  Brady has a ladybug on his arm.
I love these boys.  They keep me on my toes and never much time to relax, but so much fun!
 And lots of silliness!!
If one sits on my lap...
 ...the other's gotta join in!
Was a good day!
