Caleb Lately...

It's about time I give another update on my life.  So here are a few pictures of what I've been up to...
Of course I like to hang out with mommy and daddy all the time!
 I love laughing and smiling!
I recently got to visit Anders, who stopped by on his way down with HIS mommy and daddy to L.A.  We met in Portland a few months ago, but now we've both grown more and had fun seeing each other again!
I really liked seeing his mommy and daddy, LaVonne and Weston! (i think mommy and daddy liked it too)
I'm pretty good at standing up, but mommy said I can only do it myself for a couple seconds at a time.  I think she's just too worried and doesn't realize how strong I really am! :)  Oh, and I LOVE playing with this toy that someone gave me.  It has music and teaches letters, colors and all kinds of things.  I don't really understand it all yet so I just hit it a lot!
Now that I can roll (pictures soon), I like exploring the room and everything in it!
It's great, too, cuz if I ever get into something I shouldn't, all I have to do is give a really cute look and I'm out of trouble! :)  hmm, wonder how long I'll get away with that! :)
More smiles....the other day i laughed and laughed, more than ever, when mommy copied me sticking out my tongue.  If you want to see the video, go to our video blog- mattandcherylovideos.blogspot.com
I get so excited every time we get my Bible out to read before getting ready for bed!  I always hit the book several times before even opening it!  Mommy and Daddy said to tell whoever recommended this one that they LOVE it!!!  GREAT choice!
Something else I can do now is let mommy and daddy know what I want to go see, just by looking at it with lots of excitement.  The other day I was walking with mommy and let her know I wanted to go see my car seat!  She put me in it and it was so fun!
I finally got to use my highchair for the first time about a week ago.  We got it out so that I could try sitting up in it before starting solid foods!  I loved it, so I hit it a whole bunch too! :)
I even got to try out my spoon...but mommy took it away cuz she said I was going to gag myself.  Oh well.
 :)
Check this out!  I can even hold my own bottle now!  I drop it now and then but mostly hold it really well!
Me and Mommy!....and the finger I like to suck on all the time!
We tried to get a family self portrait, but it's kinda hard.  These are pretty good!  This is before mommy and daddy went on a short date to dinner.  I don't understand it all yet, but I'm pretty sure they must be right when they told me it's important for them to do things "just the two of them" sometimes.  I'm not worried...it took them almost 6 months to finally do it, so I'm pretty sure they still like hanging out with me too! :)
I like snuggling and just chillin' with mom and dad sometimes.  I don't feel the need to constantly squirm around ALL the time anymore.
I'm also learning to sit up, but since I feel more sure of myself leaning way forward, I usually end up in a position like this.  This is one of my favorite toys...I hit it a lot too! :)  (Thanks Oma).

Well, that's all for now.

Your're still here.  Really....you can go now....:)

happy baby

TOES

About 3 weeks ago Caleb discovered that holding his toes was pretty fun...but getting them into his mouth was even better!  You can imagine what he's thinking as he gives all his effort to reach his goal...
almost, but the sock doesn't count
 GOT IT!

5 Months

As usual, here's the "in the chair" picture to show Caleb's size...
...but as can be expected by now, the rest turned out the best.
Here's the winner!  Matt thought I posed him, but every month when I take these, I basically just sit him down and take pictures as quickly as possible to try to capture at least a couple good ones.  This time he sat nicely for about 10 seconds, and then.....
...since he loves to roll over now, he figured it should work in a chair as well!
So we tried again...I think his facial expression matches the bear in this one.  OH, the bear!  It's from his Great Grandma and Grandpa Boersma!
a little cheesy smile, and then...
"Hmm, what's this on my bear's neck..."
"Can I eat him?"
"Ok, I'll just hold him."
Another try...
"Oh look, my TOES!"
"Yes, this pose is much more to my liking!"
"I'm done. No more pictures..no more cameras!"
one more...gotta love him!

Grandma Came to Visit

A couple weekends ago mom/grandma came to visit us!
We were all super excited to see her and for her to get to see and spend time with Caleb.
She brought a gift for Caleb, who was MUCH more excited than ever to find out not only what was IN the bag but also about the bag itself!  SO MUCH to discover these days!
While she was here, Caleb discovered his voice at a new level.  He decided it was pretty fun to express himself by "yell-talking."  He even tried it one morning in his crib when he woke up early.  I'm glad it only lasted a couple of days. :)
 Happy boy and grandma!
When mom was about to leave Monday morning, I realized that I had hardly taken any pictures, so got a few at the last minute. (I guess it proves just how much I'm thinking of YOU, mom, when I post on the blog.  Since you were here and seeing everything, I didn't feel like I needed to get pictures of it all.)
We love you and had SUCH a good time with you!  Hopefully you can come again soon...and bring Grandpa next time! :)

my hummingbird :)

yes, i call him mine, along with all of the other birds that gather at my bird feeders :)
when i put up this feeder last year i was sad to find out that hummingbirds are territorial...mainly because the bird that found it first was a female.  don't get me wrong, i fully enjoyed her visits, but i REALLY wanted a male to come, simply because they are SO pretty!
you can imagine my excitement when i finally re-filled the feeder this season and saw that a male had found it first!!! I was able to get a couple decent pictures, even though the i hadn't cleaned the window yet.  It's actually pretty funny that the females will come right up to the feeder even when we are sitting and talking next to it, but won't sit down.  this guy will immediately sit, but as soon as he sees us move, even inside, flies off as though scared.  anyway, i've enjoyed his visits and will miss them when we move.  pretty little guy!

just cuteness!

we can't wait for mom/grandma to get here this weekend!!!
